MS/HS: Story Crafting
6th Grade to 12th Grade
Service Description
Have you ever had an idea for a story, but just haven't been sure how to actually write it down? Well, in this class, we'll discuss the nuts and bolts of a good story and practice putting them together. That way, the next time you have an idea, you'll be able to grow it from a little baby idea to a fully-fledged story that can soar. As with any art, writing requires repeated practice so there will be about fifteen to thirty minutes of homework per week. Topics covered include: What makes a good story? How to plot your story How to develop well-rounded characters How to pick a setting and create your story's world Rewriting to show instead of tell How to get past writer's block How to handle criticism Self-editing and the tools of the trade Payment: Cash or Check to: Liz Frerichs Leader: Liz Frerichs
